Henry Cavill officially confirms he is back as Superman in the DC Extended Universe following his Black Adam cameo. Debuting as the Kryptonian hero in 2013's Man of Steel, Henry Cavill was meant to be the face of the DCEU. However, his return appearances in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League were met with divisive responses. Once Zack Snyder exited the franchise, Superman was surprisingly pushed to the side by DC Films. This included reports that Cavill was out as the DCEU's Superman, which seemingly gained traction with the studio developing new Superman movies that would reboot the character.
After years of uncertainty surrounding his future as Superman, Henry Cavill appeared in Black Adam's post-credits scene. Audiences got to see Cavill put on the Superman costume once again and come face-to-face with Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam. The highly teased appearance was seen as a tease of more to come (including fighting Black Adam), even though Cavill reportedly did not have a contract for more movie roles. This became all the more confusing amid reports that Man of Steel 2 was re-entering development at WB and DC.
