Queen Nzinga of Ndongo and Matamba came to prominence during the 17th century, when she ruled over Angola and fought off Portuguese settlers. Netflix released today the official English-subtitled trailer for A Man of Action, a film loosely inspired by the life of Spanish anarchist Lucio Urtubia.
The trailer for A Man of Action, reminds me of the one for Clark, the Netflix series about Swedish criminal Clark Olofsson. Its action sequences, humorous bits, and entertaining clips combine to make me say, “Ooh, this looks good!” So, of course I set a reminder for it.
Loosely inspired by the life of Lucio Urtubia, A Man of Action explores the figure of the Spanish anarchist, following his life from the 1940s to the 1980s — from his humble beginnings as a bricklayer-turned-bank robber, to his taking the lead in bringing down one of the world’s biggest banks. How? Through a legendary counterfeiting operation in Paris in which he obtained a huge amount of money from cashing forged traveler’s checks.
The trailer ends on the night of that fateful Christmas dinner. “So, Gianna, is your mystery man coming?” one of the dinner guests asks. And as if on cue, the doorbell rings. But judging by Gianna’s expression as she opens the door — just before the trailer cuts to the I Hate Christmas title card — the person on the stoop isn’t whom she was expecting.
Netflix announced I Hate Christmas and other Italian film and TV imports as the company opened a new office in Rome this May, per Deadline. “The dream of Netflix is to support creativity around the world,” Netflix founder and co-CEO Reed Hastings said at the event. “We’re expanding our premium films and incredible series here, and we want to do all kinds of new content, not only from established producers but allowing new voices to share what is really unique about Netflix. These are stories that are made in Italy and watched by the world.”

The South African teen crime drama series Blood & Water has been reeling fans in with its mysterious, deception-riddled plot and incredible cinematography. The story follows a high school girl who transfers to an elite private school when she has suspicions that her long-lost sister attends there. Season Two of the show premiered at the end of September 2021 and left behind quite a few cliffhangers. Since there are several unanswered questions, there is a lot of potential to continue these plotlines in the third season.
There could be more tension between Fikile and Puleng, and their respective romantic relationships. With new faces come new scandals. With the introduction of Sam (Leroy Siyafa), Pauline (Katishcka Kiara), and Zayd (Alzavia Abrahams), there's sure to be more drama. The show has a great modern take on how it incorporates societal and cultural nuances into the series. It also highlights the way tech and social media have affected human connections. Perhaps the next season will follow on the lines of these themes along with nail-biting mysteries, romances, and shocking twists and turns
In the grand tradition of Hercule Poirot, Nancy Drew, and the Boxcar Children, Detective Benoit Blanc has taken on a new case. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, a.k.a. the sequel to Knives Out, has released its final, ultimate trailer. Directed by Rian Johnson (who, please note, will be at VultureFest talking about this very film), the sequel takes everything you loved about the first one (killer cast, return of the murder mystery, Daniel Craig with a deliriously silly Southern accent), and cranks it up a notch by bringing the new crew to a Greek island. The newly released full trailer shows the suspicious cast of characters firing off guns, calling each other the elephant in the room, and discussing classic board game Clue. Below, everything we know about the upcoming film, starting with the brand-new trailer.
